ok, if the exhaust passes through a body pannel...
there is a piece that attaches to the body (usually chrome or something) that holds the pipe in place and is also a heat shield..
what do you call that? a bezel? a baffel?
i've got ideas

The exhaust passes thru a body panel? At no time would you want the exhaust attached to the body, it should be attached to the frame with hangers so it can move. Im lost.

he means something like the old school muscle cars. its a bezel around the hole in the body, and the exhaust tube runs through it. i would vote bezel

Ohh, I see now. That does look kick ass having the exhaust like that. Too bad that wouldnt work on my Laredo rear bumper.
In that first pic I cant see how you wouldnt get a vibration noise with the tips connected to the bumper, the second pic looks like the tips are not connected to the bumper but floating inside the cut outs.

I've heard it as 'through-the-body' exhaust :D

On old Vette's I've heard the term exhaust bezel.
