my question is about the kicker 10 inch sub box. a friend of mine is willing to sell me his old kicker sub and box cause hes upgrading... my question is:

if i have the wire hanging in the rear (way way back) can ijust plug his sub in with out enhancing my amp or anything? will it give it enough juice? or would i have to get a stronger amp?

i have the stock boston A system in the whip. 2010 srt8.

cheers-

The factory Boston amp only powers the speakers in the car, not any sub woofers. You'd still need to get an amplifier to power the Kicker woofer.

The Kicker sub box has a 200-w amp built-in to the enclosure.

thanks to those above, i got mixed answers...
milous- so your saying i wont need to upgrade my existing stock amp if the sub it self has a amp enclosed? so i can just plug and play then?

cheers-

edit_ also when you go to the equalizer in the menu on screen... will it has a separate area which displays the bass, mid, treb or will it tie into the basic bass equalizer bar.

Is the Kicker box and sub you are getting from this friend a Mopar (Chrysler specific) product or is it an aftermarket product?

Ohhhh, okay, gotcha.

Milous should be able to tell you if you can connect it to the factory boston amp (i.e. not have to buy the kicker amp).

I think either way you're still going to have to run a seperate power and ground.

It is a factory subwoofer that came with the vehicle, OR, did he add it as a Mopar accessory?

If it was added as a Mopar accessory, then you will need to get the wiring harness from him.

If it is a factory install, then you will NOT have a wiring harness and installation is going to be more difficult as you cannot buy a subwoofer harness from Jeep. If your friend is re-doing his whole system, would he be willing to give you the factory connector for the sub (he would have to cut this off the factory harness).

Wiring involves running a power and ground wire to the engine bay, and running audio signal wires either up to the dash or back to the amp.

i dont believe his came with it. im pretty sure he upgraded it last summer from what i have as stock. he got the complete kicker set for the WK and not the different models specifically for the compass or patriot models, front tweeters, front door speakers, rear door speakers, kicker amp and sub, ordered this from mopar.

Ok, good. He needs to get you the entire harness, and it's a two-piece harness which will require him to carefully remove the wires from the connector near the firewall under the dash.
