Silver, just for the maintenance purposes. If it was a smaller car, like a 2-door coupe, I may say black, but washing an SUV once a week is not any fun.

Figures the order date would be late. My lease is up on April 29th so I will have to extend it for 6 months at a ridiculous increase in monthly payments. Otherwise I would be ordering on the 8th.

I will not buy the first of a new model. regardless, we're probably 6 months to a year away from WKII release over here in Australia. They have a BUNCH of WK's still to move, heck, they STILL have brand new 2007 plated SRT8's available! lolol (popular things they are...... NOT!!)

Scottina06

I agree, I bought a 2005 rocky mountain before my 06 Limited. My 05 suffered from the dreaded "I was just driving and the car died" problem. Other than a few starters, my 06 has been much more reliable. I will wait to buy a litely used 2012 in 2013. Still hoping for the SRT8 though.

03-09-2010, 03:21 PM
Too rich for me, my 05' is finally paid off in June so I plan to drive that while its still under the power train warranty which will be another 2 years or so unless I can find a better paying job then i'd go 2010 SRT or wait till 2012-13 when the new SRT comes out although the Challengers and new Mustangs are tempting. Im worried about all the new features they are packing into the WK2 its just more things to go wrong and everyone knows when something can go wrong with a Chrysler it does especially electrical, I just want a big simple engine like the old days. I want fast and loud I could care less about airbag suspensions and heated this and that. :D

Well it seems that I am the only one that attempted to order a WK2 on March 8th....still no Vehicle Order Number as of today. By the way I ordered a charger R/T when they first came out as well as a Charger SRT8 when they came out and never had any first model year problems.

I would definitely go Hemi Laredo I think that would be pretty cool. Same power, less weight, and not all the bells and whistles I dont need but if I go Jeep again I think I will go SRT8. Hopefully I hear back from this job I just applied for because I could possibly buy a 2010 SRT later this year if I get a steadier income.

The ordering date has been pushed back just a bit, they have been making final revisions for the option packages and pricing. Dealer training will start next week, which has to happen before the order banks can be opened. Should happen in the next couple weeks, they may decide to time it with the start of the NY auto show.

jeepster23

Probaly has to with tweaking and making sure thier product is acceptible to ship out. I would rather have to wait knowing they tested and used all of their resources to make a quality product opposed to them rushing to meet a deadline and offering an inferior one. This could be for the better of all of us.

Scottina06
03-25-2010, 12:15 PM
also...it is a 2011 model that they were "planning" to release early. April is still very, very early for a 2011 model.

My gut feeling is they're having some issues with the Quadra-lift suspension. Fairly obvious really re the delay. If I wanted this option I would defiantely be waiting some time before ordering one.

Scottina06
03-28-2010, 03:42 PM
Milous said in another post they are reworking some of the packages, pricing and a few appearance things

Marlin
03-28-2010, 03:58 PM
Yeah I understand that, but that alone doesn't make a delay of releasing the Quadra-Lift, there must be underlying issues. Not that we'll hear the facts ;)

Is there going to be a Nav update or something after the new model comes out?

IIRC, the initial nav system for the WK2 is either the ones they currently use or similar... and after a few months (later this year) they're going to introduce a new navigation that uses Garmin's GIU/mapping technology.

Supposedly the new WK2 is going to launch with the same MYGIG unit that is found in current models but a new Nav unit by Garmin is going to be launched in late August early September for the WK2

EDIT Matt beat me to it

04-05-2010, 07:43 AM
Thanks. That might be worth waiting a few months for.

Matt
04-05-2010, 07:48 AM
IMO, you really can't beat Garmin for navigation. If you're going to be using the nav a lot, or prefer a very easy-to-use interface, or just want the latest and greatest, I'd hold out for the new system.

Will be interesting to see how updates are applied to the Garmin unit, and at what cost. On my portable Garmin Nuvi I purchased a lifetime map option for $99, so the maps can easily be kept up-to-date for no additional charge. My wife's vehicle is DVD based and they want something like $250 every time you want new updated maps.

On hers you also can't make changes while driving, which you can do on the portable (passenger only, of course). ;)

I seriously doubt they will be using a DVD-based system. My guess is it will be HDD and updates can be implemented via USB drive. Just a guess though. I'm sure Milous could shed some light on this.

It will have a HDD plus a DVD slot for video playback and updates. Not sure if USB capabilities have been expanded.

The Overland comes with just about everything...the only options available are the backseat TV and tow package....which I included (I have twin 11 year olds so the TV is nice).

The agreement I have with the dealer is that it must have "the new Garmin Nav unit, the quadralift system, the QD II system, and the other options they were holding back" .

So the soonest it can start to be built is July 6th.......

Basically the Overland is going to be delayed again because of the quadralift system (Milous indicates its the Quadra Drive II that is causing the delay...Not available until JUly 26th) so the wait continues.....ps.
