How do you guys clean the entire rim from the inside? Not just the front(face) but the lip inside! I haven't cleaned mine since i got the jeep! They are beyond dirty from the inside!!! Can I do this without taking off the rims?
Thanks

unless you have girly man arms.....its almost too hard. I remove my wheels to clean them.....

hmmmm yeah too much effort to do that often. might be added to the list of 2x a year:)
Yeah, I remove the wheel to clean the inside. Use a really strong wheel cleaner or degreaser and I also used 0000 steel wool. As you would expect, get a nice coat of wax on them to protect.

The best way is to take it off unless you have like 24". Sometimes you can get a toilet brush in theere but it doesn't clean it as good as taking it off.

I agree, if you're going to do it, do it right and take the wheel off.

2 reasons, IMHO, I looks like ass with nice wheels to have the inside all black and greasy/dusty.
2, it can actually effect the balance of a rim. I had a rim once that i bought used and mounted and balanced. it tool over 4 ounces of weight to get ti right.
It had alot of gummy grease on it from a tie rod end that must have been bad on the jeep it came off of, among that alot of sand stuck to it in the multiple spots it had grease blobs.
Cleaned the rim on the inside and it balanced out very nicely.

I use P21S Wheel Gel and these tools below. There's no sense in taking them off the truck to clean them. My wheels had about 49K on brake dust on the inside. I let the wheel gel sit for about 20 minutes and then went to work. Took about 5 mins. per wheel. You can let the wheel gel sit for 1 hours on ANY TYPE OF RIM!! The stuff is just flat out awesome. Can't go wrong guys.:D

It can only be clay bard and buffed out. Such a bitch. UGH

Paul the steps are aluminum with black plastic end caps. I polished the steps with Turtle Wax Ice.
[QUOTE=Black Mamba;21414]Btw does yours seem to jut out more like these?
Looks about the same. The steps in the pic look more like BMW X5 steps to me and are better looking than those that I have. Mine are pretty useless as side steps as there is not enough room between the step and the bottom plastic piece below the doors to fit the toe of a shoe in there. They do however do a great job of protecting the side of the vehicle from stone damage and that is the reason I installed them. Some of our sealed roads have a lot of loose stones on them.
Couple of pics for you.

They look great and add to the aesthetic of the car. Esp on a darker vehicle, you can see the contrast more. And def adds to the jeeps lines. I think in the end, it would be a great look to my jeep. Thanks for the idea

I heard break cleaner works wonders! My moms WJ has baked on break dust. Im talkin' bad... Ive tried cleaners that i thought would be good or whatever, no dice. What do you recommend for really really dirty wheels/rims that could make somone say.. man this is hopeless. Thanks for the insight!

I had a wheel in a similar situation (the Jeep's spare) - when I had it put on I thought there way no way this thing was getting cleaned and it didn't with a strong wheel cleaners. It was recommended that I try 0000 steel wool... worked like a charm! The wheel looked brand new!

I have the 0000 steel wool also but is there a solvent that will aide in this?
I have the 0000 steel wool also but is there a solvent that will aide in this?
I just used the wheel cleaner I had tried before, but I think any de-greaser (Simple Green, Dawn, etc), and maybe add a little water to dilute it, will be fine.
I'm going to head out and do mine soon. I'll report back with my findings/results.
