Hey guys, I have a quick question. I have a 2005 GC Limited with the nav, I looked on wkjeeps.com and I'm pretty sure I have the REC system without sirius radio.

Now I have a sirius radio sportstar 5...I'm very picky, but what do I need to do to have it hardwired install??

does the REC nav system have AUX I could add to radio to.

lemme know guys :)

i think all rec have sirius, you just wouldnt have the antenna on your roof. if you do have the antenna, you can just call sirius and they can switch your sub to the factory radio.

I don't have any antenna on my roof, Im positive I have the REC system, what are the steps needed to add the sirius, I tried searching justforjeeps, but it looks like they have full kits..

I'm lookin at my senior members to answer lol, cmon i know you guys know!!

There is no aux port on the REC. The easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to use a the sirius am/fm antenna splitter to get the signal from your sat radio to the REC radio. You'd have to tune it through an FM frequency which isn't as good as a direct connection but it will work. You'd also use the antenna from your existing sat radio and wire it's power to either the 12v outlet on the dash or hard wire it somehow.

To use the REC as a "sat radio" you are going to have to purchase the mopar kit that includes the wiring harness, antenna and sat receiver. That kit retails for about $400 and is a pretty involved install.

If you get the factory iPod adapter it gives you a 3.5mm aux plug as well. You could run your sportster through that. To add factory sirius you need the sat receiver and the install kit. You also need to drill two holes in the roof for the antenna.

I had the same problem so I bought the kit and had the dealer drill a hole in the roof for the antenna. Now I have hard wired satellite radio directly to the REC... I'm pretty sure it's the only way to keep it factory.

i didn't realize that jeep would put a sirius capable radio in a vehicle without having it ready for the service. especially the most expensive radio they have. "This system is Sirius Satellite Radio capable and displays station names, song title and artist. To obtain Sirius Satellite Radio, a satellite receiver/antenna kit and subscription to the Sirius service is required." my 2006 limited came with a RAQ stereo with sirius. i just upgraded to the REC unit. i hadn't had sirius for almost 2 years and decided to get it again. i just had to give them the ESN of the new radio and they sent a new signal and i was good to go.
