Depending on condition of the vehicle... probably no more than 23-25k mostly because of mileage.

I don't know for sure if the engine has a gen 1 or gen 2 like the 5.7 does but body style should be the same 06-07 then slightly different 08-10.

Scott or one the SRT gurus might be able to chime in with more info

Dont forget to consider the insurance difference also. If you are a young male in your twenties the insurance for an SRT would be rediculously high

There are no SRT8s made in 2005 btw.

the SRT is rated the same as a laredo as far as insurance goes.....

The SRT's are holding value well. Dealers are not coming down on used prices. I was told of an ad for a 08 for 39k. I mean c'mon, add another 5k, you can get a new one.

try to get the lowest miles possible and buy a warranty that covers all drivetrain componets. You might could get the 07 with 74k for 21-22K?

dont mean to change the subject but how much do you think it would cost to get a drivetrain warranty for an extra 10,000 miles. My 70,000/7 year powertrain warranty ends in jan of 2011 I believe. But I want to keep for like a year after jan of 2011.

look into them prices are all over the map. to get a chrysler one, you need to have less than 48K miles though. some aftermarket ones will allow higher, but obvioulsly they arent as good.

hmm ok, il probably just take my chances for that year and not have one. The jeep was well maintained all its life so thats a plus.

Scott, how do you go through for your insurance? maybe its an age thing, because I was quoted a LARGE difference in insurance costs between my limited and the SRT.

Through state farm, whom i also have my homeowners insurance through, it was shy of double of what I am paying now.

Sorry for the thread jacking, but i would be driving a different jeep had it been the same

I couldn't pay 25k for anything with 75k miles. Also, you realize it's red right?:D

I think some might have to do with age. Im pretty sure it drops after 25 or something like that. I know downstate has an 07 srt and his insurance in the same as my 04 wj which is like 85 a month and he is like 25 or so and im 26.

also value. ask joe elvis.

he went from a ~42K Overland to a ~47K SRT8 and said it was a minimal change.

but if he had a 05 Laredo ~23K sticker to a 2010 SRT8 ~47K, there will be a difference.

i think what these guys are saying is ther is no HI PERF tack on.

The dealer that I got my Jeep from (Thompson Jeep - Aberdeen) has an 07 listed for 27k. If you'd wanna go look at it, I'm sure I could get that price substantially down for you. Lemme know.

sounds good i'll let ya know man. I'm waiting till im 21 to get it so i can sign for the paper work myself. I'm thinkin about getting the 5.7 Hemi LX (300, Magnum, or Charger). As much as I'd love a SRT8GC, the R/T LX's are only like 60hp less then the SRT8s. Also theres a few shops in MD and DE that specialize in Mordern Mopar Muscle. But like I said I'm waiting till im 21, which just so happens to be less then a month then hopefully soon I will be rocking some sort of Mopar Hemi :)

if your worried about insurancce with the Jeep....dont. Its rated the same as a laredo or overland. All WK's are rated the same

jcollins1888

not worried so much about insurance as its gas mileage. the 5.7 LXs get 15city/25highway which is fine for when i go on vacation. Thats the only thing thats keeping me from getting a SRT8GC right now unless someone can convince me different :)

Robert Palmer

If you are worried about gas mileage this is not the vehicle for you as it will eat gas like no tomorrow and some may say you need your own oil refinery for it.

As far as insurance, yeah there was no performance vehicle add on, but GEICO did ask me if it was an SRT. My insurance only went up like 30 bucks a month.

jcollins1888

yeah gas is my biggest concern since we go to the mountains and the ocean, both about 3hours away... the RTs may not be the best on gas but its not bad on gas either lol

I still vote get the SRT8. How many trips are you going to take to the moutains/beach each year?

Scottina06
03-29-2010, 09:48 AM
yeah....and the difference between the 5.7 and 6.1 would save ya what? $10 each trip....if that?

jcollins1888

we'll see. The SRTGCs for less then $25k have few to many miles for my liking. I can pick up a Hemi AWD 300C or a Hemi Charger R/T both with less then 50kmiles for under $20k. The 5.7 Hemis are rated at 15mpgs city and 23mpgs highway compared to the 8city/12highway in the SRTGC. But if I had a garage I'd so be all over either a new Challenger or a SRTGC. Theres just something about leaving one out all day in my neighbor hood where a few cars have been broken into and cars have been egged a few times, that I dont like
