Im going to try to walk through my mods in pictures.

I started off with a 2007 Mineral Grey Laredo 27X Pkg. 4.7 FlexFuel.

Here it is with 2 mods installed already. The rear hatch handle body color and the Wheels which are 2004 OverLand Rogue wheels.

But if I cant deal with it, you KNOW I dont have a problem with Mineral Gray. Only problem, it's about 900 miles to Waco to Daniels Shop

awesome history Rob!

Thanks Scott. Most of it is YOUR FAULT. I think JU was the first place I found but soon I found the red site and saw the transformation taking place. You gave me the BUG, you _ _ _ J/K about the namecalling, not about what you caused.

I'll take pics of what I've done w/ my rig once I'm done... So far, I've reinstalled a SRT8 badge on the back, debadged the front, added the SRT badge to the lower front grill, added a SRT windshield banner, added black wheel inserts, (installed and then removed a Borla exhaust), SRT8 third brake light cover (though Daniel is sending me a new tinted 3rd brake light when he sends me the tails, so that SRT8 cover may not be staying), silver vinyl faux stillen turn signal covers... Interior wise, I've not much other than lots and lots of cleaning. I did add a Kuda phone mount and a SRT badge on the steering wheel.

Still waiting on the dark tinted full LED tails and the LIPS harness. Then I'll need to get the fogs tinted and I'll be done w/ my cosmetic mods....

Sounds Sweet Mike. When you get done, do a members thread with all your pics. Im sure other 08 guys would like to see what the vinyl on the 08's did for a look.

Always a big fan of the jeep Rob.

Thanks Billy.

I read that you do HVAC for computer rooms. In the later 90's i worked for Goldman Sachs as a Computer Programmer and they made me work over in Brooklyn Heights in a room attached to the data center. Halon armed and all. I think it was Court Street. I remember a few blocks north from Montague, right on the river. place was on 23rd floor, ceiling to floor windows in lunchroom, direct view of the Lady in the Harbor, All of lower Mnahattan and even the Brooklyn bridge.

a little more grey for the Ghost!

first, i have to tell you about this strut brace. I have been looking for one for a while. of course Scott beat me to one on eBay and I never saw another used one. it cost over 200 cheapest price i can find for a SRT8 new one. Dont want to spend that. Yakiing to Daniel one day ask him to check his dealer, without shipping maybe its worth it. a few days go by, get a call from Daniel. Says he got me the bar. Im freaking out. wow, how much. he says FREE just pay the paint and shipping. and the price he gave wasnt even close to actual. anyway, so im like 'how did you get the bar free' and he says that he was with Wade and mentions it to Wade. Who then gives Daniel a 'spare bar' he just happen to have for a project or something.

So First = Wade (centraltexhemi) , I can't believe you just gave this to me Bro. I gave you a 10 cent part one time......

then Daniel: As usual Bro, the finish is awesome. looks PERFECT! And the DEAL was OFF the HOOK!

Thanks to both

robpp
09-19-2009, 06:51 AM
its down to the gluing them together. then complete the wiring.

I bought some strap clamps for the squeeze.

I did a lot of research on adhesives. too much research. i have both silicone adhesive and I have a urethane. the factory def IS NOT SILICONE. both in calking gun size. THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL PART TO MAKE THEM LAST. SO I 'skeerrd'.

ordered an assortment of metri-pack connectors to make the wiring NICE. I really want a switch too. so I still need to sort that out a bit.

then I am off to the Grand Canyon for a few days too. My bro is coming from NY. the Grey Ghost will see some roadtrip action! we leave on the 27th.

soon Alf, but not too soon Bro.

robpp

you have an 07+ you will need a spacer to make them work. not much spacer but some. The caliper is only .015 from the wheel. so i added .125 for a total of .14 of an inch clearance.

yeah i did

i am very confused over wheels at the moment.

snow is the issue

20's and snow?? do they mix.......

it can snow here from Septemeber well into May. that leaves 3 months for a performance tire. and 9 months of snow tires

so have been thinking about getting the JK's Black Chrome and i can hopefully find a decent M/S tire for year round. IDK.

So keeping the stock rims w/ some winter/all season tires on them is not an option? That was my plan....you can't really get much for stock rims...maybe $50/piece, and a little more if they have tires? Seems like you're best off just keeping them around and swapping out. I can't wait to see the Viper reps if you go w/ them; the picture that Doug just released was kinda weak and left me wanting to see more...I really want to see these on something that is at least sitting down where the SRT sits stock too.

Back on topic: I love your jeep and love that color; great work on all the details. I agree - it's not one bit over done - very clean. +reps ...really wishing I got that color!

Look in to these tires for those wheels.

Nokian WRG2 255/60/18 (they will fit, its closest size to stock)
They are suggested for year round use and they excel in snow traction.

Those wheels, Black Chrome = i think i need a moment alone.

245/65 18??

NHWK05
09-25-2009, 03:30 PM
245/60/18 is stock overland and optional limited tire size with 18s.

But that tire if you like them does not come in that size.

robpp
09-25-2009, 03:33 PM
i see. that looks like a perfect tire for Co. I have Michelin LTX MS on my XJ. They have a very similar writeups.

where can i find these Nokians

NHWK05
09-25-2009, 03:37 PM
There are a few shops local to me, i would use the dealership search option on the site. I have never seen them online.

They have great reviews too. They are replacing the Nokian WR SUV tire as the new model.

They are also supposed to be some kind of special compound that is eco friendly as the tire wears.

All my exterior parts are painted and on but just waiting for the shop to finish up with my "secret" project. You have me in the engine bay though, lol. All I have done in mine is paint ALL the yellow caps black. Oh and I have something special for you to put in your sig, Rob...look closely :D :

in the works:
i have few more pieces at daniels.......the 2 cowl pieces and I forget what else. when i change the cowls, i need to plumb up the window washers a little better than i have them now.
I have to finish one D pillar with Neffy, my freaking neighbor was over when i did all that stuff and he stepped on it and broke the mounts.
the halo lights. I have to finish that mess. I need to open the fogs. I had to buy a new left side. i broke the back part taking it apart.

wheels and tires are ordered. new lugs, locks. r1 dimpled slotted rotors and hawk ceramic pads on the way.

need to do:
paint the calipers black
get some sort of small sub solution
led cargo area mod, leds ordered. trim piece sitting here
buy a small CNC Mill and make my own caps and covers, etc. i hate Billet Technology and refuse to give him another red cent of my hard earned money.
If wheels look weird I may need to try a drop. as long as I keep the front lower valance off, and add the Marlin skid plate solution, i should be ok in snow.....
the 08 grill, bumper and HIDs if and when i get all the parts.

stretch goals:
now that i did the neffy, i would really like to change the headliner. but IDK, all the little bits then would need to be painted. that one is a stretch.
noticed that the early SRT8 has a pull down thing in the rear seats. I want that.....
i would really like to add alot of performance. since there really isnt much out there, we can see what Scott went thru, a trip to NCTS could be in the crystal ball.

lots of the toy stuff depends on bonus payouts at work!

Btw whats going on with those halo's?

robpp
10-17-2009, 06:57 AM
halos: left headlight ruined. need a new one.
billet tech has a monopoly. I have a bug in my ass about them for awhile. go to their website, jeep stuff is hardly prominent. they could sell a bunch of stuff to us, non-srt8, but their marketing sux. I bought the window switch covers. i had to add my own tape, i had to sand and grind to make them work and fit. I sent them some feedback about exactly what I had to do, they told me I was just complaining. FF, now they are a vendor on the red site. come out witha new titanium color (grey), they have a sale. I post up that I dont see the grey. they respond its there. I post a screen shot showing it isnt there. they dont respond.
so bottom line is they have lots of products we could use, but they are too stuck up do to monoploy to do the right thing.

no news on bonus yet. payouts are nov 7th........

Hey did you ever decide what to do about wheels?

robpp
04-18-2010, 02:43 PM
black chrome vipers: its actually a 3 step powdercoat with tinted clearcoat. looks like the real deal for a bit less.

working on getting a place to strip the chrome here, then will send to CA for the PC.
or if that dont work out, will just buy a painted set and send to PC, then push to get rid of the chrome.

Correction, I did not mean Sold on JG but as in the fact that we are on JG.

I did not realize you still had the stockers. So if you sell the Chrome Viper reps we will be tied with wheels sold. :p

Stock Ronin IIs, Sold on Craiglist.

Stock JK 18s Sold Locally to a Jeep Dealership.

Stock JK 17s sold on Craiglist

Bought Stock Ronin IIs now and keeping them. Though some need to be re finished or replaced.

H&R REAR ONLY Installed so far so i took one pic and the batteries died. i had the neighbor here to help so there wasnt gonna be any reload. i started at about 34 inches center of wheel well from the ground. i ended at a tad over 32.5 so lets say 32.6, which is exaclty what they say, that was after a short 20 mile drive. re measuer at about 500 miles.

so take what you can get LOL

H&R Springs rear only installed today.

just messing kyle

its noticeable on flat ground. i am 6'2" and i can see more of the roof line now.

plus the front is stock for a few more days. although I kind of like the NON-Raked look. on level ground the rocker is perfectly level.

but they did what they said about 1.4 inches. thats all the drop is advertised at.

Hey, random question, Does it matter how the slots on the brakes are set up? When i installed my drilled and slotted rotors i searched and could only find pics of the slots opposite how yours are. But now that ive installed them i see alot more setup like yours. does that matter at all?

since these are powder coated clear which is a bit harder to keep swirl/scratch free i added a little protection today.

i cleaned them up.
then i did on coat of Zaino all-in-one polish.
then 2 coats of Poorboys World Wheel sealant. i can't leave a finger print on it. its like i painted a coating on. dang good stuff. ill report back iin a few months as tohow it lasts.

got a brake rotor project coming up so at that time i will use the poorboys on the complete inner barrel.

robpp
07-18-2010, 07:53 PM
the black chrome PVD is insane. in full sun, straight on they look chrome thru and thru. once you get on an angle and not direct sun you start to see the black in the shadows. a little less light on an angle and you see shiny gray with black pockets. at night you get another whole look.

the quality of the finish is freaking perfect. there was one small bubble they told me about but you cant even see it. i would recommend calchrome for any project. they gave me honest delivery dates. great communication throughout the project. good customer service.

if you want to reada bout the finish: http://www.calchrome.com/service_blackchrome.php

i tell you......i put in the H&R rear springs and i think i am stopping there. its almost level. the rear tire is as tucked as i want it.the front is perfect now since all the snow I cant be in the weeds.

coil=overs now thats funny. if it ever happens ill take a beating but they are immediatley for sale if I have to buy them or lose 500 which is where we are today.
