Question for those of you that have your front windows tinted to match the rears - what % film did you use? If I had to take a guess I'd say it looks to be around 20%?

Can you also throw up a pic or two of your tint?

I finally, after 8 months of owning the thing, have made an appointment to get the fronts tinted!

I told them to match my rear oem windows. I think it's 20% but it all demends on the quality of tint they use. Mine are teflon coated. I don't know the significance of it but it's supposed to be a better quality. From the outside it looks exactly the same tint. But from the inside looking out the rear looks slightly lighter than the front.

I wanna say rear is 15" oem but i might be wrong.

I dont know about your state but its illegal to tint the fronts past a certain point here and i know that matching the factory rear is too dark. I think i can only do 35% in the front or sumtin to be legal.

I'm not overly concerned with the legalities.

In South Carolina the tint law is 27% on all windows, but the factory glass is darker than that, and I don't really like the look of the tint not matching from front to rear.

In Florida it was 15% on the rears and 28% on the front windows. I had three cars that I put 15% all around and never got any flack for it, even when getting pulled over for speeding.

I am planning on telling them to just match it - but just in case they ask me if I know what % I want to be armed with the correct info!

then I would go no more that 15%-20% to be best color matched. Remember because of the light entering through the windshield the front windows are going to appear to be lighter so you may want to go with 15%. BTW NY is 35% for front and no regulation on the rest I believe.

The factory smoked glass is 18%.

I had my fronts tinted with 18%. If the decision is between 15 and 20% (since most shops don't carry 18%) I would go with 15%. The wind shield lets a lot of light through, so the 15% + the light usually gets it to be a near perfect match.

Thanks... when I called the guy to get a quick quote I asked what kind of films he has and he rattled off like 6 or 7 different brands - so maybe he's got 18% in something.

If not, I'll go 15%.

I just hope they'll do darker than legal.

Back in FL the first shop I tried wouldn't do it at all. But the next one I went to just made me sign something that said I knew I was getting my windows tinted darker than the legal limit.

Yeah I had to sign something too. But if your car is clean and not all ghetto pimped out the police usually wont mess with you...

Yeah for any guys w/o a back up cam you may wanna consider a lighter tint.

The back windows stock on mine were measured at 18%, so I elected to go with a 15% on the front. It matches perfectly. You want to go slightly darker on the front windows if you can't find the exact same percentage. The front window tint seems lighter because the windshield lets in a ton of light and and thus you can see through the side windows easier.

Got my 20s today, went from 35% to 20% thanks to the guys at speedworld. Joe thanks for the reccomendation. Shall do the windshield strip soon

^^ Is it very difficult to get all the glue off when putting on new tint? I'd like to get mine redone to something darker.

I got mine 35% and regret every penny of it. I will be getting it redone at atleast 20%, if not darker when I have the spare time to take it back in. The shop I went to wouldn't go darker than legal here, and the Jeep was my wife's DD back then. Now that it's in my hands, it's time for change!

I had my tint appointment before I took delivery of my truck LOL. I drove it right from the dealer like 1/2 mile down the street to the tint place. Was my very first mod before it even hit my driveway.

Lol some idiot hit my side window. And i forgot I just got them tinted again, so i put the window down like less than half way then i forgot they just got tinted. And then I said to myself, GOOD JOB PAUL GOOD JOB. Anyways though they seem fine. Nothing too crazy unless you really stare at it and an anal person like me.

The tint place (speedworld) said I can always come back. Damn the fact they dont have 15% though. :mad:
