Warning for people who removed roof rails completely.

Im sitting in my car right now watching water dripping from the screw cover at the grab handle at the windshield. Its pouring raining out, has been for the past week it seems. Im assuming its getting in from where I plugged the holes left from removing the roof rails. Have to go home and pop out the panel clip I have in them and re-install some silicone sealant. Just wanted to let people know I guess they def do leak if not sealed up good. Im not seeing or feeling any water on the roof liner, so thats a plus. I popped the screw cover off so it seems to be draining from there so hopefully not traveling down to the dash.

I dont have a sun roof. I removed the rails completely and stuck these plastic panel fasteners in the screw holes. I did use silicone, guess I didnt use enough on one of them. When I first did this months ago someone said that the inserts are closed off from the roof and wont leak, which now im thinking they were wrong. Im going to take the fasteners out and completely fill the screw holes with silicone sealant this time.

What about the srt rails? Don't they use the same mounting holes? They would prob have a better sealing gasket.

I have a small leak that comes down through the interior pillar like yours.

It's only coming in from one spot, and I think some silicone should do the job.

I had the srt rails, I actually traded some lady who had them on her stock laredo for my roof racks but then I saw a picture of an srt where they had nothing on the roof and plugged the holes and I like this look alot better. The srt rails are a dull flat black plastic and now I just have the bare roof, cleaner looking IMO.
