View Full Version : Bwoody CAI for JEEP WK 4.7L
Tom@MHP

Mike at Bwoody agreed to develop a true CAI intake for the WK 4.7L and if this goes good he's willing to look at other models. We went back a forth because Mikes' not sure if they will sell. We came to the following agreement. Mike will provide his time to develop it and make sure it flows, performs and looks great. I will need someone in the Edgewood Maryland area that would be willing to leave their Jeep with Bwoody for approx 3 days. The person willing to do this, must be willing to pay for materials and powder coating. If there is a demand(which I think there is) and we can move 15 units there will be no charge. If for some reason there's no demand then you have a great Bwoody CAI for less than 200.00. Mike said they should retail like the rest of their CAIs between 300.00 and 369.99. which we always do better than that. I'm thinking around 329.00. Again if this goes well we can look at other models.
So do I have someone that could leave their Jeep with Bwoody. Even more important how many would be interested it a Bwoody CAI for their WK 4.7L.
Thanks,
Tom.

I have put out the word Tom at JU and JF. You wll sell 15 easy.
If I'm right...these should work on the 3.7 as well? Its TB is in the same area as the 4.7 V8. Does anyone know if the K&N for the 4.7 works on the 3.7. I know someone put a 3.7 K&N on a 4.7.

Mike at Bwoody perfromance has agreed to develop a TRUE CAI for the 4.7 V8 WK.
http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=892
I believe the CAI would work on the 3.7 V6 as well...but we need some confirmation. I need a 4.8 V8 owner with the K&N Intake to meet up with a 3.7 V6 owner and see if the 4.7 K&N works on the V6. That should be proof enough. provide pics etc.
All interested in a TRUE CAI for their WK.....POST HERE NOW!
Price would be between $300 and $369. Bwoody also needs a volunteer near Edgewood, Maryland for test fitament etc. Please apply within---LOL

the K&N's for the 4.7 and 3.7 are different. they kept the intake muffler on the 3.7 for some odd reason.

But if you remove the intake muffler will the 4.7 K&N fit a 3.7?

Scott, I could help if YOU can find someone here in CO with a 3.7. I could try my K&N that goes right to the TB. Its the 63 series K&N. Spiff has the Overland so he is out.
There was aChuck somebody or something from Fort Collins but I dont know if he's here.

Knowing Mike and the way his products work, you'll see some gains from it. He'll make sure it flows.

I was reading on your site the info for the 3.5" and the 4" Intake on the HEMI's. Do you expect that we will see similar performance increases?
There were signs of better 1/4 times and up to 17 WHP gain.
Also i mentioned this to scott. The 4" lists having a free extension wire for the IAT, so the IAT can be located farther to the filter making a colder air reading. They should do that for the 4.7.

Hello Kyle,
Knowing Mike it will perform well, but I won't throw any numbers on it until they get one in their shop. And yes I will bring up moving the IAT.
Thanks,
Tom.

Scott, let me get with Mike and see want he can do. I would say 2 days for sure would be the min. Mike makes a few passes at it and puts in on a flow bench to find the best places for the bends and so on. That's why he always says 3 days to be safe.

it will fit both IMHO. The only difference between the 08 and 05-07 4.7 is the coolant tank.(disclaimer-as far as the intake) Sousa put a 05-07 AFE on his 08....

update!!:
talked to mike today. August 23rd.
he says he has tried 4 or 5 bending shops and they all refuse to bend it because the bends are too sharp. He has decided to do a vaccume form plastic model.
a couple issues:
#1 he needs a 4.7 WK. I can't help, way too busy to give up the jeep.
#2 he has already sunk a lot of money into shipping this unit and getting these shops to quote him.
#3 he is going to need a pretty big pre-sale of them before it is even worth while. they may ask him to order 100 before they even manufacture it.
input? ideas?
NHWK05
08-23-2010, 03:05 PM
I would tell him to get online and start paying attention to all the poeple that want one. I am sure if he had a solid groupe buy going he could get enough orders. Then if he takes the time to get a 3.7 wk and make sure that it fits both then he will for sure be able to get some numbers built up really quick.

Yep, Im sure even having 20 people with a 4.7 who want it would be sufficient.
