Okay, I first noticed the rub issue with the rear tires this winter, after I switched to 255/55/18's (from the stock 245/60/18's) and carried two adult passengers in the rear, (no additioanl cargo) in addition to the two of us up front. The fender wheel well paint was rubbed off by the rear tire inside sidewalls (both sides). Now, with the SRT staggered set up, with a cargo bay full of stuff and the motorcycle trailer (with bikes) I see it again with the addition of rub marks on what you would call the front of the rear wheel wells. The road up from AZ had some good dips and I surmise the rear suspension bottomed out. The trailer and the bikes weigh 2290 lbs according to the weigh scale reports.
I read the WK suspension thread and I am not really thinking about lowering my WK, mainly because I tow the bikes back and forth between YYC and PHX and I think lowering it will only exacerbate the situation. So, what do you folks think is a viable solution?

Thought I read people were discarding the Bilsteins ..... what is a decent shock for the rears .. I am not sure I wanna lower it.. although I must admit it looks a bit nicer..

the bilsteins are 100x better than the stockers! The wk bilstein HD's actually raises the WK 3/8". The SRT Bilsteins will keep you at the stock height...but with better control because they are gas charged. Either one is a lot better thsan the st0ckers!!

Will SRT shocks fit with the stock WK springs?

Thanks for the clarification Scott... I priced them out on Just for Jeeps... See what the stealership wants for them... Would it be worth it to do all four shocks without the springs? or should I just do the rear shocks?... Like I said... I just am not sold on lowering it...

the WK Bilsteins may be more what your looking for then. They are anywhere between $250-$300 for all four.

Well I just wanna know is it a waste of money to do all four shocks if I don't do the springs and whatever else is required to lower my jeep. Maybe a stiffer shock is what I need in the rear....

I dont think it would be a waste of money to replace any of the stock suspension. It is horrible. I would replace all four shocks/struts...thats just me though and my opinion.

thanks buddy... I had the SRT8 Charger and the R/T before that... I was never that impressed with the SRT suspension.. but certainly the WK needs to be firmer than the floatasaurus that it is.I'm gonna look around...... I'll let you know what I come up with.

went to the stealership.... here in YYC... they quoted $248 per shock for the SRT stock shocks (MOPAR?) and about $320.00 per SRT spring. Think, when I 'm ready, I will go to the JFJ site and buy the stuff I want there instead.....

Ok.. so went to the scale today at a local truck stop. Here are the values..
Jeep unloaded, except for me and a full tank of diesel = 4980 lbs (front axle 2660 lbs/rear axle 2320 lbs)
Jeep with trailer attached (front axle 2540 lbs/rear axle 2680 lbs)
Trailer, unloaded, not attached to Jeep = 1180 lbs.
Trailer, loaded with two bikes, not attached to Jeep = 2640 lbs.
Trailer, loaded with two bikes, attached to Jeep = 2400 lbs. (axle weight)
Went over a few dips at 100 kph (62 mph) and no rub issues..... so maybe the Jeep was overloaded before????. Anyway, my only concern with getting the SRT springs and shocks is that it lowers the WK about an inch or so overall. Does that put me in jeopardy of rubbing if the body is already lower by adding the loaded trailer? Just trying to analyze the whole scenario before I take the plunge and change the suspension. What do you all think?
