Since using the accessory charger yesterday to power a portable air compressor to inflate a bike tire, the cabin lights in my 2012 grand cherokee overland stay on while driving. After parking they go out in 20 minutes. All doors etc seem secure. Can this be "reset" by disconnecting the battery or a certain fuse?


I had an odd electrical problem a year ago: Unloading from the rear I leaned on my electronic remote in my pocket causing the car to honk. Later it wouldn't start. I was in a remote area incidentally and couldn't get towed. Getting nervous, I somehow got the start button jammed. I'll skip the two days lost, rental car, digging on the internet etc. to say I finally tried unplugging and replugging a fuse, and it started like nothing had happened.

your OWNERS manual lists the fuses.

Are you sure the interior light dial (roller switch) to the left of the steering wheel isn't all the way up? Try setting it one notch down from the top.

For what it's worth, I found I had inadvertently hit the roller switch with my knee while cleaning, and experienced the same 'lights didn't go off' scenario. It's easy to do without realizing it. You may be in luck and not have an electrical issue.

I turned the reostat wheel to dim the lights when driving but wasn't sure this was the problem till I read your post. Someone coincidentally left a rear door cabin light switched on which did not dim, so I wasn't sure till I discovered it. Apparently I had jacked the reostat wheel up inadvertently. Most of the time I do really well for a halfwit.

We've all been there.
