power liftgate stuck closed

110 miles from home, in a retail parking lot, can't get the liftgate to open;
evic shows liftgate open but it is stuck shut. Checked manual; Says if liftgate stuck (must be common problem) there is a access panel on inside of liftgate. i locate a half moonshaped panel , bottom center. Need a screwdriver
to pry it open. Got it open, did not readily see how to release the latch as space is stuffed with insulation, i did not feel like ripping out the insulation.
back outside, playing around with the fob got the glass to open, shut it down tight and then noticed the evic alarm gone. now liftgate opened ok using the fob. Opened and closed it a couple of times during the rest of the afternoon and drove home. Works ok now. So, still got find out how to open it manually from the access panel. Anyone know?

Re: power liftgate stuck closed

So was the problem just that the flipper glass was released and therefore not allowing the liftgate to open? If so, that's normal. Are you sure the EVIC picture was showing the liftgate and not the flipper glass?

Just went to the garage and tried it.
If the flipper glass is not latched the EVIC graphic is distinctive, plus there is text that says the flipper is open. It is true that the gate won't open if the flipper is not latched. So as i recall what was displayed, i'd say the system thought the gate was open so would not open it.

Re: power liftgate stuck closed

I would assume the issue with the flipper glass interfering with the operation of the auto tailgate is the reason they omitted the flipper glass unlock on the remote fob. I would have been nice if the tailgate retained it's normal opening capabilities with a physical linkage. Trying to open the tailgate with the handle has a very unsatisfying feel to it since it is not connected to a physical linkage and it feels like it's locked.
