Rear parking sensors/camera

Anyone know of a way to turn the sound off,but leave the display on? The EVIC does not give you that option. You can have sound on or off,but if you want the display(camera)you have to keep the sound on. Really annoying when backing a trailer long distances. OR does anyone have any idea where the chime is located,so that maybe it could be muffled a bit. The volume on the nav unit(430n-RHB) has no effect as it does in bluetooth calls and nav voice. I don't want the expense or hassle of one of those aftermarket gizmos just to turn on the camera. Thanks.

Add me to the "stupid" driver location of this forum. I have had this truck since late March, and did not know what the heck that button did!

I use this button often. Here where I live, there are too many motorcycles riding between the cars on the stop lights, the sound can be very annoying.

Also, I find the beep too loud. Does anyone have a clue on where the chime is? The idea of muffling it a little bit seems to be good.

Doesn't it only beep when in reverse? I don't see how motorcycles will activate the sensors in traffic if your in drive?

The console switch is a quick fix when pulling a trailer. Another method is located within the settings of the EVIC that gives you the option of camera and beep, rear camera only, or beep only.

The EVIC options are off, sound only, or sound and display. "Display" here refers to the symbols and messages in the EVIC (behind the steering wheel), not the camera.

Camera options are controlled by the "menu" button on the radio. Select "system setup," then "camera setup" if you have a NAV radio, then "enable rear camera in reverse."

interesting. i'm not sure if you can get the Wk2 with front sensors in the states - maybe someone w/ a limited (or above) will comment. I only have rear sensors in my Laredo .... would LOVE front ones.
