Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

I hadn't driven my 5.7 Overland for a while and when I got in, the TPS light was on idicating low pressure in left front tire. I added air and the display indicates 35psi but the TPS light won't go out. I've driven it over 20 miles at over 70mph and it still won't go out. I've backed it up over 1/4 mile and it still won't go out. I've turned it on and off for 2 days now and still won't go out. Does anyone know the procedure to re-boot it?

Re: Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

Did you check all of the tires to include the spare? Some vehicles will monitor the spare tire even though it’s not on the EVIC. You could try disconnecting the battery for 2 minutes that may reset it. If not then you may have to take a trip to the dealer. I would check all tires and the spare before disconnecting the battery. Also don't go by the EVIC for correct pressure it isn't always accurate as a tire gage. If you're in a cold climate area then put 1-2lbs higher than what the door sticker says. Good luck.

Re: Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

I've checked the pressure with a guage, the front are 35psi and the rear are 34psi, the same as indicated on the EVIC. The amber warning light still show low pressure and the EVIC is flashing the 35psi front tires. I guess I'll disconnect the battery and see if that resets it.

No No No! you'll reset the computer and maybe cause other artifacts - you are under warranty - take it back to the dealer - disconnecting the battery and giving Mr. Computer a lobotomy may not amuse your service depart ment....

Re: Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

Same here. Despite adjusting my pressures after the warning, the warning light remains. Any solutions as yet?

Back it up 1/4 mile??? Who told you to do that?

Disconnecting the battery will not "reset" the TPMS (nor will unhooking the battery cause other issues).

Temporarily raise the pressure in the offending tire above the threshold, to ~40 PSI. Then return it back to the placard pressure.

I'll try that but that's a joke if I have to do that every time.

Re: Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

I the same I filled the tires to 45psi drove about a mile and the light went off and stayed off then just set the pressure around 35 psi,it will come back on if the pressure drops below 28psi then you have to start all over again

Re: Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

According to the manual you shouldn't need to overfill the tire to get the reading to change and the light to extinguish.

Quote:
Should a low tire condition occur on any of the four
active road tire(s), you should stop as soon as possible,
and inflate the low tire(s) that is “flashing” on the graphic
display to the vehicle’s recommended cold tire pressure.
The system will automatically update, the graphic display
of the pressure value(s) will stop “flashing,” and the
Tire Pressure Monitoring Telltale Light will extinguish
once the updated tire pressure(s) have been received. The
vehicle may need to be driven for up to 20 minutes above
15 mph (24 km/h) to receive this information.
If it doesn't work this way then a trip to the dealer is in order IMHO.

Also, there is no TPMS in the spare.

Quote:
NOTE: There is no tire pressure monitoring sensor in
the spare tire. The TPMS will not be able to monitor the
tire pressure. If you install the spare tire in place of a road
tire that has a pressure below the low-pressure warning
limit, upon the next ignition switch cycle, the Tire Pressure
Monitoring Telltale Light will remain ON, a chime
will sound, and the EVIC will still display a “flashing”
pressure value in the graphic display. After driving the
vehicle for up to 20 minutes above 15 mph (24 km/h), the
Tire Pressure Monitoring Telltale Light will flash on and
off for 75 seconds and then remain on solid. In addition,

Re: Tire Pressure Indicator Light stays on?

If you have a nail or something in your tire the tpms light may still stay on.
