Re: need more sound from my exhaust. (Flowmaster)

Ok, first morning making my daily commute to work in Houston traffic and it has too much drone. I really like the way the exhaust sounds but hate the drone. Sooo, I’m going to order some Fatmat floor liner. I’m going to cover the rear cargo area and the spare tire area to see if I can reduce the drone some…..might even cover the rear hatch/door.
If I can maintain 70mph the occasional drone is tolerable and at 55mpg its dead silent…..but “lug” the engine a little and it gets bad really quick.

I believe the system has a 90 day return guarantee. That is of coarse, ya don't like the sound.

Re: need more sound from my exhaust. (Flowmaster)

As you said it sounds nice but is a bit intrusive. I wonder if replacing the mufflers would help tone it down a little?

Re: need more sound from my exhaust. (Flowmaster)

When I really get tired of this, I'll look into replacing the mufflers.
As of right now, I'm having fun.

Re: need more sound from my exhaust. (Flowmaster)

Yep, I like it but I did order some DEI titanium exhaust wrap......going to wrap the entire cat. back up to the mufflers. Just to see what that will do.

Re: need more sound from my exhaust. (Flowmaster)

aren't you worried about heat build-up by wrapping it and is it a sound reducer?

Exhaust wrap has been used for a long time in racing applications (I use it on my Buell Motorcycle). The idea behind it is to keep the exhaust gases hot, this will aid exhaust flow and protect surrounding components from overheating. I’ve used many different types and they all have failed at one point…..they eventually burn through but the DEI titanium stuff is virtually indestructible. Also the other styles need to be coated with a silicone spray to protect it from the weather but the titanium stuff does not. It’s not really a “sound reducer” but I’m hoping that it will reduce the high frequency vibration/drone that I get when switching back and forth between ECO mode and normal. It’s kind of like adding mass to the pipes to reduce vibration……I hope.
