Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
Depending on the jump drive manufacturer, the jump drive may require both a photo file and music file for the radio to recognize it properly. (RHR radios with software 1.911, 2.110 and 2.116)

Thanks Sox, I resolved the problem by using a different but same model USB. Gracenote update then loaded perfecty. It is strange that the USB that gave me the Gracenote error message was the one that loaded 2.120 perfectly.

Thanks, Sox, already tried that. BTW, the original stick was downloading fine until the radio went off for a second, notwithstanding the on-screen message that it would resume downloading if the radio went off. I may try a DVD.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
Finally got it to work for me. Took 3 USB drives. Also, for those who might want to know, formatting FAT32 on the Mac will work.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
Tried a couple more sticks, and what's happened is that the USB port is no longer being recognized.
Will have to reload v2.120 to, presumably, get the drive functioning once again, then worry about Gracenote.

Lingohocken, before you reload the software, did you try resetting the system? Press the forward, back andNAV buttons together.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
Thanks, Chero77, for the sensible recommendation. With the media center turned off and the three hard keys pressed, it obviously reset and placed everything back to factory default. That's the good news. Alas, the dead USB continues as before, so there is obviously some corruption.
When I have time to deal with it v2.120 will need to be reinstalled. After all the years I've spent in IT, I should have known better than to believe the Gracenote message that if the radio is turned off, the install will proceed where it left off next time the radio it turned back on. A healthy dose of paranoia is most helpful when flashing!

A computer is still a computer. BSOD isn't particular to Microsoft.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
With these reports of issues if the radio shuts off during the update, I see there is one critical piece of information missing...
How Long Does this Update Take?!?
I think it would be good to know to ensure there is enough time/fuel/power/etc.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
The installation screens advises approximately 30 minutes, I did it on my way to work, stopped and grabbed a large coffee (left the Jeep running instead of trusting the "it will resume" message (not my first MyGig media center! )), it finished well before I arrived, so for me it was about 20 minutes, of course your mileage may vary. The only downside was I had no entertainment while it was updating, so I had to entertain myself be counting the number of people texting, or otherwise staring at their phones while driving.

Re: RHR Gracenotes Update (Sox comes through again!)
Okay, I must be slow today.
I can't get the update to start.
I've placed the GNDB folder along with the gnupdate.txt file on a good USB device. I also put one .MP3 file on the drive to ensure the system could see it.
The system sees the .MP3 file but I don't see any pronpts or options for an update.
What are the specific files and steps needed to initate this update?
