Yesterday my dust cover jammed so all i could get into was reverse
I didnt get a pic cause i was kinda cranky about it, but it bunched up,and i wasnt gonna force it till it broke.
This thread helped me figure out i needed to get the 4lo switch out. I only have the screwdriver type torx drivers so i ended up having to pull the console
So anyway, here are some pics n stuff
to pull the console, after removing the trim around the shifter like in post #1 you need to remove a 10mm bolt in the deep cupholder
then pull the cover off the rear of the console (just pops off with strong nails or a screwdriver) and remove the two #20 torx screws
I pulled the foam for extra room
then slide the seats back for some room, put the ebrake handle up and lift the rear part as you slide the front back & out from under the dash.If you have the shifter pulled back it would help with room. you will need to wiggle it around the ebrake assembly. (sorry no pic)
there are 3 10 mm bolts -1 @ front 2 @ rear of the shifter (arrow)
then you can get to the pesky 4lo screws
this is what i found when it got it apart
these came off of the underside of my indicator
FYI My side to side movement (autostick) would get "crunchy from time to time,I'm not 100% but i think it was the 1st pieces of this junk starting to jam.
I desided to cut the bracket so i wouldnt have to worry about removing the 4lo switch if it needs to come out again.
this is after i cut it with a dremel, & trimmed some more away so it wouldnt sqweak or rattle- note I also removed a good bit of the verticle brace from the underside not in pic.
for reference this is the cubby with the switch pulled
and this is from underneath after its back together- note the anti sqweak gap
I didnt get pics of it, but i cleaned the track of whatever grease they had in there and wiped some armour all over it and the dust cover to keep the movement free & slippery. I also enlarged the shifter hole being I have shrink tube on it so its black.
Hope that helps somebody
