Well had the GC for nearly 3 months now and still loving it. Brake controller, UHF radio, 2nd battery (removeable from rear cargo space) with 12v run to Anderson plug at towbar, full set of skid plates and black Mopar side steps all fitted.

Re: WK2 DownUnder
x3 and where brake controller is mounted
Note to to all. I have a friend who runs a 4WD fabrication company. We are going to get under my Jeep soon and see if we can solve the tow hook problem ourselves. As well as i am going to get him to fabricate some skid plates and rock rails etc.
Is there any other parts that others might find useful that arent easily available that might be worth looking into? Im sure if there is enough interest, i can convince him to make parts for other people as well.
Let me know

Hi Frog a lot, I'll try and describe this as best as possible, but one suggestion my son had for the front recovery was would it be possible for someone to manufacture a front tow hitch (similar to a rear tow bar with the square mouth mount) that would bolt to the chasis on the front left and right side. In effect a tow bar for the front.
Potentially a nudge bar and skid plates could be incorporated as an add on.
The square mouth mount (what I know as a Hayman Reese hitch could then be used with a tow bar recovery hitch insert or even a tow hitch mounted winch.
Leave it with you but if this does become a solution, I'll bring my truck over too.
Scott

If he can come up with recovery hooks before anyone else, he'll be on a winner. However, they will have to be engineered. Other possibilities:
- A double roof like Land Rovers used to have. It could incorporate some aerodynamic storage and clip onto the standard roof rack
- Long range fuel tank
- A racking system for the back for 2nd battery, cooker, gas bottle, tools, esky, water, slings, turfer, high lift jack, spade, chainsaw, maxtraxs, stuff for the missus etc.

I have since modified the mounting by cutting a piece of 4mm aluminium 75mmx100mm, rounding the corners, sprayed matt black, drilled and tapped two 5mm holes and bolted the P3 bracket to this. I have secured this to the dash using two strips of self adhesive velcro. Stays firmly in place now, but can be easily removed if necessary.
Cheers Chris

Re: WK2 DownUnder
You didn't. Tow bar wiring is already there but tow bar is additional. Makes a good bargaining item, just tell the dealer at the end you will sign if he includes the tow bar
