Re: WK2 DownUnder
Guys. Orders in for a new Overland!! Calling all the owners out there with the Saddle leather, can you tell me honestly what you think, what door and steering trim did you choose, and out of interest, what's the colour of your car? Going to sleep on it but looking at white, with saddle and black door and steering trim but jeez, I don't want to stuff up without seeing it in the flesh! Any info would be highly appreciated. Cheers.

Re: WK2 DownUnder
For those that haven't found it yet here is a great place to find out about your WK Jeep. Lots of help full links.
http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2menu.htm
This one on interior trim removal is what I used when putting in the Electric break controller, http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_interior_trim.htm, I couldnt have done it with out it. For a trim stick I used a small long flat bladed screw driver with a slight bend in it 2 - 3 cm from the end that had no sharp edges.
If you take out the interior cover that sits under / around the spare tire, (page 17 of 84) there is a sensor for your key fob, if you don't plug it back in your key fob and proximity sensor won't work.

Re: WK2 DownUnder
Hi all,
I'm based in Sydney, and hope to be ordering a CRD Laredo in a couple of weeks time. I'm told that the current wait is 4months!
Anyway, planning for a True Blue or Maximum Steel in colour. Extras will include Offroad Adventure pack with the rear ELSD, Tow pack, Mopar Rock Rails, darkest legal window tint and a cargo barrier. Will also try to do a bargain with the dealer to swap the Kumho tyres with Cooper Discoverer AT3 in the same size. I did something similar with my previous car, a Holden Jackaroo Monterey, where the dealer swapped the 5 standard Goodyear Wranglers for BFG AT for $500 or so.
Further down the track will be an ARB bullbar (now in development) with winch, a Murchison suspension upgrade, hopefully a snorkel, and a VMS4x4 Offroad navigation pack. Larger fuel tanks might also be on the cards if and when they become available.
So obviously cant show you anything yet, but will keep you posted.
Cheers all!

Re: WK2 DownUnder
Spare parts in Australia.
Not sure how to do this but we need to start a tread about spare part availability down under. I waited ca. 5 weeks for a front head light and now has waited 4.5 weeks for a steering arm to fix the "knock" in the steering wheel when braking. They just don't have any spare parts in Australia. It seems all parts have to be ordered via Singapore and takes a long time.
I had a fog light damaged when parked and decided to order a new one via mail order in the US. It arrived in 3 weeks - faster than getting it via the official Australian Jeep importer. In my view there is something seriously wrong with Chrysler Jeep Dodge Australia's spare parts policy!
Can anybody help?

write to the ACCC, when granted an import licence they must keep adequate spare parts an reasonable turnaround times.

when ordering your saddle trim you don't get a choice of door trims or steering trim they are set combinations.

Re: WK2 DownUnder
How things change. When I ordered my Grand Cherokee Overland in late September 2011, the choice I had for the interior was Black or Black. After a fair bit of thought, I chose Black! Had I had a greater variety to choose from I probably would still have chosen black.
On the subject of spare parts: I'm trying to source a more reasonable price for the oil filters which at $100 is a big rip off and at $55 is still a rip off! Having info on where to source cheaper consumables would help most owners.
By the way, my dealer uses Castrol SLX Professional 5W-30 engine oil. I'm now trying to source this oil from a cheaper source and will let you know what I find.

I don't think you'll find a better price for oil filters than here:

You may be right. These are the words against each of the wood options
Black Olive Ash Burl only available with 3.0L CRD Engine with Black leather
Medium Olive Ash Burl not available with 3.0L CRD Engine with Black leather
– Available for other trim/engine options
Pics on google show both. Need to talk to the dealer.

Re: WK2 DownUnder
Smudge, I agree that the $50 for the filter is very rich, as it is nothing special. I would say it would not cost more than $5 to make in China (written on the box). As for the oil, I would just get the Nulon as it is the cheapest oil with all the right certifications.

Hi smudge,
In the past, I have used a place called Sydney Filters for various bits and pieces. Neil is a really helpful fellow. I remember on the jackaroo forums that quite a few members were using this place to by the two oil filters on the 3.0 diesel engine in the 98 and newer models.
I've emailed them asking whether they can supply the oil filter and how much.
