Re: Radiator Fan not working wj 2000
I replaced my fan motor and the relay under the passenger headlight and my fan works now.. On 90+ days tho it still will run at 220-230+... Not sure if this is normal, I hope I don't need to replace the radiator.
Anyway the relay is a common problem for going out so look into that I'd say

Re: Radiator Fan not working wj 2000
I know with my xj (4.0), the fan stopped working and we were able to hook up the battery to the fan motor and determine that it was the thermostat that was busted. It's worth trying that first I'd say.

Re: Radiator Fan not working wj 2000
I had a problem with mine not shutting off on my '01. Looked into it and it's a normal wear problem in which the fan either won't stop running or it won't run at all. It's the relay. I replaced it and it's been fine ever since.

Re: Radiator Fan not working wj 2000
On the 04 i think it actually went to a relay (or relays hi lo? ) in the PDC, earlier vehicles uses a pcm controlled relay that is under the passanger headlamp. a dremel tool will clear the plastic out of the way in no time and I believe 2 8mm screws hold it in. VERY common failure... I have also seen some fans fail and kill the relay, actually most of the repairs in my memory right now had bad fans... The fan can be jumped directly to the battery to test, if it doesnt spin or struggles its bad. the relay has a power, ground, pcm control (to ground IIRC), and output to the fan, at the dealer I hook the DRBIII up and actuate the fan and verify I have all 4 of those at the relay, it would be tougher without actually being able to actuate it as you would need to warm the vehicle up and look for output. LIKELY its your relay, but it could very well be your fan too. and POSSIBLY it could be something else completely.

Re: Radiator Fan not working wj 2000
I've heard peoples relays in these different places, mine is accessed via the rear of the fender well on the front passenger side of my '01 Limited
