1st time down the 1/4 mile!
Went up to our local drag strip tonight and said... **** it... I'm racing! I've grown up around the track, and have family members who race for a living, but I've never gone down the track myself.
I had no expectations for the 3.7 but it was a fun ass time.
I even cut a .026 light which I thought was good for a first timer.
The truck was slow as hell and the quickest run I had was an 18.85, but I had a good time.
Every run I had, my 1/4 mile time dropped at least .1 from the first. I don't know if the computer was making adjustments for the WOT runs but it definitely got quicker each run.
Thought id share.

You should try and get a Superchips Tuner.

Re: 1st time down the 1/4 mile!
Sweet Randall. Look up your Density altitude at dragtimes.com to see what your DA corrected time would be. This would give you an idea of what you would run at sea level. I would bet you would probably run about a 16.5 or so at sea level.
I would imagine you were getting faster with everyone not because of PCM adjustments (although possible) but because of a drop in DA.
For a legal headstart, in case you didnt know, try shallow staging...Gives you a 12 inch headstart before you trip the beams.

Thank you for that link.
Adjusted:
Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
17.045 @ 82.672 MPH
I thought about deep staging but I didnt try it.
I would be curious to see what the SCT tuner would do for my truck.

That aint so bad. I wonder if your current tire combo is heavier than your OEM set? Rotational weight will KILL your times. I know it (along with other issues I had) killed mine...
I am guessing you don't plan on getting serious about racing but if you were to find a set of cheap, lightweight wheels (the smallest diameter you can fit), and the smallest, lightest tires you could fit on them, you would be absolutely amazed by how much time you would drop. This is both because of the reduction of rotational mass, but also the reduction in gearing, which in turn multiplies torque AND allows the engine to get into the higher rpms sooner, to bring it into the power band faster. Of course, itd make your jeep look like a skateboard but itd go faster
No telling what kind of improvement youd see, but I imagine you would see some tangible improvement. The improvement would also be amplified by the above tire/wheel swap.

Re: 1st time down the 1/4 mile!
Where'd you go, Bandimere? I refuse to go to anywhere because of this altitude... I know it'll just make me depressed. I'm plenty happy with my WJ's performance for the first 50mph on the street... any more than that I feel like it's in slow motion. :sigh:

Hey, I'm just the opposite, I feel like "come on ,come on" untill about 45-50, then " well it's about time" (even with a DS and "trac off")
