Why do stock tires suck so much?

Why is it that jeep always seems to choose some of the worst stock tires for their vehicles as compared to other brands? Granted i understand that most of the tires are Goodyear tires that generally suck but geese they do make some decent tires why nto use them?

JK stock Bridgestone Dueller RH-S
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ler+A%2FT+RH-S

Not bad overall but to me if its not in the green it sucks.

Stock XJ Cherokee/ TJ Wrangler tires GY Wrangler RT/S
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....rangler+RT%2FS

FAIL

Stock TJ Wrangler 30" tires GY Wrangler GS-A
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=Wrangler+GS-A

Stock ZJ, WJ, WK Grand Cherokee tires, Wrangler Hp, Wrangler ST, Wrangler SR-A,

HP
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Wrangler+HP

ST
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Wrangler+ST

Super Fail

SR-A
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=Wrangler+SR-A

Stock WK tires, GY Fortera HL Edition

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....era+HL+Edition

Again still not bad overall but still not great either.

Many other brands put decent tires on their trucks and SUVs like ford with the Destination ATs that rate very well, then they go and put the shittiest tire ever on their full size trucks the Ameritrac TR that is just as bad as the wrangler St.

I am just amazed at how a brand trys to sell their cars and boast them to customers. maybe if they upgraded something as simple as tires they would sell/review even better.

Imagine going to test a WK in petersons 4wheeler or similar with GY Fortera tires. Them imagine going to test it wil a a tire like the Bridgestone dueller at revo? The out come would be night and day.

Tires that are great for trucks and suvs dont neecessarily have to have that rugged look with noisy tread.

Anyone else ever wonder this?

FYI, for anyone who does not know already All Terrain/truck and suv tires are some what of a hobby of mine and i do losts of research on tons of tires before i buy.

Re: Why do stock tires suck so much?

to be honest with you I have been wondering the same thing also ... I have been looking around for some tires to replace my original ones with and when I saw the reviews for the stock wk nothing but 5-6 out of 10 and people always complaining how loud they are or how they wear too quick ...

I guess it's a way of cutting costs to them and you wonder why they went bankrupt ???

poor management is my best guess, some a-hole who doesn't understand on what the vehicle needs, and has the final say so on cheap tires or is sleeping with the tire manufacturer lol

Re: Why do stock tires suck so much?

Its all because of money. If the manufacturer could get away with putting retreads on the car, they would put them on.

Re: Why do stock tires suck so much?

But that make no sense at all because Goodyear is one of the most expensive brands of tires next to mechelin.

Chrysler has a partnership with Goodyear. They pay no where near what we pay.

Re: Why do stock tires suck so much?

Thing is, the "best" tires means something different to most folks. Those AT Revos mentioned above? I wouldn't consider them to be the best tire for any of my Jeeps and they'd be replaced with something else if they were OE. No matter what tires Jeep put on their vehicles, there would still be those who said they were something less than the best. When I purchase a vehicle I pay little attention to the tires because I know I'll be replacing them sooner or later with tires I consider to be the best bang for the buck.

I understnad that, and if you look through all of those links posted you will see a rating and a review on each tire. i base my idea of "best and worst" tires based upon customer reviews, personal experience and the ratings they get, ie 5 out of 10 etc. I am not trying to say that any one tire i speak of is the best, i am saying that the tires that Jeep puts on their vehicles suck and they really suck for a brand thats supposed to be trail rated. i would laugh at someone if they took a stock jeep with any of those tires out to a real trail testing facility or real life trail and expected to get any where, let along a street testing facility with those ratings.

That is true, but they are still a specific KM1 just for the wrangler. IMHO the GY MT/R's are still better then the stock BFGs, But had they used the KM2s thats another story because those rock.
