Re: Scary sounding codes, PLEASE translate and advise!

Type, year and miles on the Jeep?

Code P0700 = Trans control malfunction.
Code Uo404 = Invalid data received from control module gear shift. This means Trans Control Sys malfunctioned. I have seen two solutions. Replace the shifter bezel in the jeep (makes the most sense - replace the computer) and replace a few filters in the tranny. I did find that both of these fixes are in TSB's (Technical service bulletin) 21-016-06a and 21-007-06. I would do both actions. I am not sure if either of these are covered by the original warranty 36K / 3 Year or the 7/ 70K drivetrain. 3/36 should cover it.

Not a WK guy but I imagine www.wkjeeps.com could help you out!

Or even lazier, call the dealership parts department and just tell 'em what you need. If the guys half competent he'll give you a number

Re: Scary sounding codes, PLEASE translate and advise!

those were the same codes that I was getting before I changed out the shift bezel. Not sure if its the same problem but changing it out has fixed it.

Re: Scary sounding codes, PLEASE translate and advise!

Well, ever since I read the codes the check engine light has not been on anymore. Im fairly certain I didnt clear them. What could this indicate?? Ill still take it to the stealership though.

Re: Scary sounding codes, PLEASE translate and advise!

Okay, I got in there and cleaned the connection. Im assuming this is where its plugged in. The connection looked spotless, but I cleaned it anyway. I guess Ill watch it and see if anything changes.

Observations thus far:
1) Check engine light went off
2) Trasmission not shifting when it should (randomly) between 2-3k rpm
3) Sluggish start from stop. Pressing accelerator doesnt yield expected acceleration.
4) Poor gas mileage

Does this all and the codes fit into it being the shifter bezel?

Re: Scary sounding codes, PLEASE translate and advise!

yes. the connection point IS NOT the issue bro.
you neeed to take it apart and clean the inner contacts on the boards inside:

Re: Scary sounding codes, PLEASE translate and advise!

Okay, thanks. Ill start by cleaning the contact board.

Can someone verify that I have the correct part number for this part? I got it off just4jeeps.com and my parts cat. doesnt show one...
