Re: Speaker Upgrade

Pioneer D-Series is another top brand. I'd also replace the 3.5 dash speakers with hard or soft dome tweeters. Soft dome for not so harshness or hard dome for the high treble harshness, the sound I like. Tweeters will finish off the 6 speaker system. Those 3.5 speakers are garbage.

Re: Speaker Upgrade

I have MB Quarts which sound pretty decent IMO. All of the other speakers mentioned above are good as well. Go to a few different stores with a CD of the music you typically listen to, and see how they sound. Everyone has their own personal preference so I can suggest brands, but can't really tell you what's going to sound the best. When you find a brand or pair you like, go online and find them as they can be much cheaper than in the store.

Yea, I got my speakers from there. I think I got most of my install stuff from online car stereo (carpet, battery terminals, etc.)

Re: Speaker Upgrade

I want to upgrade speakers eventually too. My concern is having a decent speaker with a not so good head unit. I have the stock 66Watt REC head unit and I don't know if its worthy of a speaker upgrade. any input guys?

Re: Speaker Upgrade

every upgrade you make will make a difference. especially the speakers. i upgraded all my speakers first with my factory head unit and noticed a huge difference.

You will notice a pretty minimal change in sound with the stock head unit. Aftermarket speakers have heavier/tougher components and need more power to drive. That being said I would personally pick stock head unit/aftermarket speakers over aftermarket head unit/factory speakers. So it would be a good first step in an upgrade

All depends on the speakers you get. With the 3.5" in the dash you'll notice a huge difference because they only need a small amount of power, so you'll be fine with the stock head unit. For the door speakers, just look for something that doesn't require a lot of power and you'll be fine. While the power in the head unit is low, the speakers will still sound good, just won't be able to turn it up as loud as you would with an aftermarket.

Re: Speaker Upgrade

I replaced the 3.5 speakers with tweeters. Much much better.
