Re: Hillbilly camper?
I actually do quite a bit of towing...it's almost hard not to when own a home and do all your own tricks. Last year it hauled all the lumber to build my deck...and it hauled a bunch of drywall for a basement project I'm doing for someone. Retaining wall block, bags o' topsoil, all kids of shiz. Beats the hell out of putting any of that IN the Jeep, or getting a beater pickup truck.

I might drag the whole thing down to FL and have Frank dip it in carbon fiber.

Re: Hillbilly camper?
A trailer is a nice thing to own. My grandfather had one made from a 1950-something rear axle, with one end of the drive shaft welded to the pumpkin and a receiver welded onto the opposite end. He built a wood frame onto that and then wood sides. We rebuilt the frame several times over the years, and hauled literally tons of crap with it, from furniture to chicken manure.
When I lived in upstate NY I found one in my neighbors field with trees growing through it, bought it off him. It was made from a school bus front drop axle with two 10" high steel I beams for the frame. He had a loop receiver to haul by a farm tractor, and I cut that off and welded a ball recieiver to it. Then I welded some fence posts onto it to support plywood sides and screwed plywood to the bottom to make a floor. It was 16' long and hauled 18 squares of old roof to the dump in two trips. One of the tires rotted and blew out so I put a non-highway implement tire on it.
I don't have room to store one now, so I rent from U-Haul and they are less than 20 bucks for a day.

Re: Hillbilly camper?
seems as if you have a 4" drop hitch, turned upside down... Tony, that could be solved it you did an axle flip on the trailer, which would lower it and give it a more street look
i will say though, people with S10 Blazers who make a trailer out of an S10 Bed is awesome. too bad you couldnt do that with a WJ... you could with an XJ and a Commanche bed!! hmmmmm
