HID's

What's a good color combination for HID's regarding hi/low combo and fogs? I know its a jeep forum but this is for a gmc HD pickup...i post here because this is one of the nicest, most educated forums i have ever seen. and besides, im asking about universal HIDs, not something like an exhaust lol. i was thinking 6000k or 8000k for the main lights cuz i love the blue and then maybe 4300 or 3000k for the fogs? thoughts?

Re: HID's

ORRR what about going for like 6-8k in the main lights then going for like 12k in the lower lights? so that the fogs would be way more blue instead of yellowish

Re: HID's

anything over 6000k is worthless and very ricer, import. 5000k is the best combo of bright light with a hint of blue. HIDs in the highs do not really serve a purpose and virtually eliminate the ability to flash them on and off quickly. 3000k for fogs are great, it is what i have and i love them! 4300k is the stock color temp of factory hids and is also a great choice as it is the brightest output. but if you want a hint of blue i would go with 5000k so they are still very bright and i would use 3000k fogs because the yellow looks great and helps alot during rain and snow.

Re: HID's

I have 6000k for my lows and they are almost too blue, but when I'm driving on mountain roads at night the halogen high beams really balance them out nicely. If I were you I'd get 5000k.

Re: HID's

I've always liked the combo of 6/3k. Just what ever you do, if your going to change the fog lights, have it at 3K OR the same color as your low beams.

guys i want to thank you for all the advice so far.

SJG: thank you in particular. the pictures have really helped and i will be ordering the 5000k for the main lights and the 3000k for the fogs. it really helped to hear that the yellow is the best for adverse conditions and when i heard it it made sense to me. thanks again. anyone else...feel free to share your opinions

White Chocolate is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: HID's

Best combo I think its a 4300K/3000K combo. I personally have a 6500K/3000K setup, and I don't like it anymore, I'd prefer a more crisper white bulb.

Anything higher then 6500K I think is ricer, and pointless.
