ECO Mode Engagement

I have a significant vibration when the ECO mode on the 5.7L when it engages. The passenger in my car today asked what the vibration and noise was while I was driving. The dealership told me that is the nature of the beast, I'm struggling to believe that is normal. Some people on this forum believe it is a normal thing, while others think it should be less significant. Any thoughts?

It happens at all temperature, up hill, down hill, and on level ground. :-\

Re: ECO Mode Engagement

Do you experience this intermittently when changing speed or all the time while engine is in ECO mode?

Re: ECO Mode Engagement

I experience it every time it engages, it stays rougher while it is engaged and then disappears when I push on gas pedal.

Re: ECO Mode Engagement

On the WK1 people used to complain about a lugging sensation when driving between 35-45 MPH. The issue has something to do with the torque convert locking and unlocking to minimize the vibration of the MDS. I never had it on my Hemi, but many complained.

Re: ECO Mode Engagement

I had the same feeling with my '06 Overland. Also feel it with the new WK2, but less.
I had a Diablo Trinity programmer for the '06 and disabled MDS. That solved my problems. So maybe take it to a tuning shop and disable the MDS? You could always have it turned back on. I saw no significant change in fuel consumption with MDS disabled.

Re: ECO Mode Engagement

mds sucks. i drive with tow/haul on 24/7 so it doesn't go into 4cyl. difference in mileage? 1mpg at best. its such a gimmick. on flat highway cruise control at like 65 is where is would be great but cmon.

Re: ECO Mode Engagement

/\ Yeah I thought there was a way you could switch it off. I noticed when I drove a police package charger a couple of months ago I could tell when the MDS was going in and out. Definitely something that would take some getting used to. However I figured out that you could turn it off by hitting the button on the end of the shifter(forgot what it was labeled as), kinda like the tow/haul mode on the Jeep.
