I am close to ordering a V8 Overland in Dark Charcoal. My only question is the interior. Historically, I always go with black because lighter colors do not wear well...or they haven't for me, but I've never had a light interior in Nappa Leather or from Jeep. For you Frost Interior owners out there, how is it wearing? How long have you had it? Not sure about the Brown carpet. Haven't seen it in person yet. Any other thoughts? As always, I would love to see more pics of interior. Thanks!!!
Welcome! It is a great site with a lot of great people full of great information! I have the light/dark frost beige interior and have owned my jeep for 4 months. It is wearing very well. The only issue is some of the dye from blue jeans will wear off on it so you will need to clean it every now and then. It's not bad and its not that noticeable unless you look very hard. I think the brown carpet with it looks very luxurious and rich. I purchased the jeep cherokee slush mats which are black and they blend in very well with the carpet and make it almost match. I have owned both black and light beige interiors over the years in many cars and actually think the light beige wears better over the long term. If you clean it and maintain it it will hold up well for many years. That is true of any leather surface. I don't think you would be disappointed at all.
Does the blue from jeans clean off easily? Do you use anything special? I wonder if there is something you can use to treat the leather to cut down on dye rub off or something. It may be more from newer jeans than those washed a lot already. I am just afraid, even with cleaning often, that the seats (mainly driver's) with slowly get more and more stained over time. Otherwise, I think the frost looks awesome!
The blue comes off every time I clean it. I just use a leather cleaner I bought at pep boys. It restores it to brand new. Every quarter I apply a conditioner as well to prevent the leather from drying out. Newer or darker jeans will cause it to happen quicker than ones that are stone washed or jeans that have been washed several times. As long as you continue to clean your seats, the stains will come off with no problem and your interior will look great for years to come.
I had one black interior in an Acura and that was enough for me. it was so hot in the summer and I felt like the added heat build up contributed to pre-mature leather wear. I was strictly looking for a light interior vehicle. I did drive an Overland with the Black interior and refused to buy it. It's a matter of preference. Try to sit in both. I thought the black was very dark and almost felt claustrophobic. The beige just feels nice and open.
I do get some blue jean stains on the outside of the seat. It came off the first time I wiped it. I actually just noticed today that I need to clean it again. Probably every month to month and a half I will clean it. I have heard other say a cloth with water will work. I just use a leather cleaner (even though the section with the stain is vinyl). I like the new car / leather smell that the Zaino cleaner adds to the car.
I have BBP Overland with frost. I think the brown carpet/dash sets it off very nicely (vs. the black/frost of a Limited). I haver had mine only 2 months but no problems.
IMO - the ext. and int. of a car should have high contrast so with DC the frost will look good. For what is is worth I had a similar color int. in my Dodge Nitro for 4 years with no problems at all. It cleaned up very well.
I liked the light frost interior, but went with black with my DC. I am all about matching and tans & browns do not match with silvers & greys. Interiors and exteriors shouldn't be any different than matching pants and shirts. The black doesn't show stains, but it does show dust really bad.
I have had a lot of cars with light interiors and to me they are no big deal. I have never had blue jean dye wear off on them but I do keep up with my interiors as im kinda picky with that stuff so it never gets dirty regardless of what color. The color combo of the light frost beige interior is perfect. The tan, dark drown, black, and wood accents match perfectly!!!! Remember the brown is not super obvious. Its dark enough to where it doesnt look tacky infact it looks black sometimes. Its a good interior and if it werent for saddle I would have purchased the beige anyday over the black interiors. Black is ok, but looked too plain to me.
I ordered DC w/ Frost and had the same concerns. I agree with matching the browns/tans and black/grey, etc. but this combination really looks rich. I initially thought the DC/black would be too monotone until I saw it first hand and the interior has enough accents to lighten it up. It came down to a coin toss and I went with Frost. You can't go wrong either way.
Frost interior is no problem to speak of. Driver's seat(I'm the only one in the truck) takes about a minute every couple of weeks to clean off the faint blue stain.
