Lightbulb How To: Reverse HID's with ease! All ya need is a "SLIM" ballast HID kit!

Going to make this write up in 5 mins.....so won't be very detailed...but easy to understand with picture refrences

What you will need:
-Slim ballast HID kit...any color....either 9006/9145/9005/H10....i'm all for XENON DEPOT Volt kits...slim ballast of course!
-Plastic epoxy(superglue sucked for me...and you can still crack off epoxy to change bulbs)
-splice connectors or solder

That's IT!

So first off when u get a NEW hid kit they come with this piece which you will use INSTEAD of the cables that connect to the factory bulb holder(nails clipped since pic LOL)

Cut/solder OR use quick splice connectors to connect those two wires to the power and ground wires on the reverse light...match black with black and colored with white(i have led tail mod so i didn't have to splice into factory wires)

Compliments of Marc4sgr here is how u tap into the reverse plug for 08+()

Then apply a SMALL amount of epoxy to base of your HID bulb

Stick one of the plastic rings that come with the HID kits to the base with a SMALL amount of Epoxy...allow to dry for 5 minutes

Apply some epoxy to the edges of the reverse hole

Apply bulb carefully....holding firmly for a few minutes

Then apply some extra epoxy around the bulb piece as you may want some extra reinforcement.

REMEMBER to stick in HID bulbs with the little bar on the bulb pointing the same direction for equal light distribution....i chose for my little bar to point towards the license plate as i'll want more light going along the sides of the Jeep
here's the little bar i'm talking about

Here is how to apply the ballast with double side adhesive...compliments of DCSpecial

I just stuffed mine in the bumper with all the wires and zip tied stuff together lol....worked for me

and final result

Re: How To: Reverse HID's with ease! All ya need is a "SLIM" ballast HID kit!

just install the kit and splice the wires to the power and ground of ur main plug
i was pondering using a regular ballast and mounting it to the inside of the rear bumper cause i can pull wires thru to the tails there..

also would they burn out fast by them flickering on and off everytime u put it into park/drive??

Re: How To: Reverse HID's with ease! All ya need is a "SLIM" ballast HID kit!

^ same here there are no pics

but i would assume u just splice into the power and ground of ur factory harness
then use some kinda silicone to keep the bulb in the housing

or do as stated above and go to the website where they sell HID kits for the reverse location

honestly i dont see how they could melt the housing if they dont melt fog lights

Re: How To: Reverse HID's with ease! All ya need is a "SLIM" ballast HID kit!

they tested them for 15 minutes without a problem.

the ONLY issue with HIDs for reverse is it takes them a few seconds to WARM UP. lots of the time by then you are done backing up.

here is my thread.....

HID Reverse lights
