I understand there are 2 194 wedge based bulbs and a 3157 turn signal bulb located in each light. I would replace the two wedge based bulbs but on the packaging for my LEDs it says: "Warning do not install in headlamp housings heat will cause LED failure", also are there any warnings about installing LED turn signals?
What do you suggest? Thanks in advance!
Hello and welcome to JG
I did the full exterior LED conversion for the headlights and the rear (except the rear turn signals). The best source for LEDs as far as I know (and where I went for my LEDs) are V-Leds. As far as the 194 bulbs, I say there shouldn't be a problem (Had mine approaching a year w/ HIDs so I wouldn't personally worry about them). Incase they do not turn on at first, turn off the lights, and flip the bulb since the LED has reverse polarity. For the corner light, I went with a small 5 LED bulb since I didn't really want much light in that corner since at night, it would blink after my main signal (which was white when running but amber when signaled while the corner blinked white) which I didn't like. For the middle I honestly forgot which particular bulb I went with but I think it was an 11 LED bulbs while the main signal was a 60 dual turn signal (30 in white and 30 in amber). For this main bulb which is 3157, as Hannes said you will need (2) 6 Ohm resistors (I still have a spare pair brand new never opened). Here are some links
60 LED Dual Turn Signal if you want White for DRL and Amber for signals
6 Ohm Resistor which is needed for the main signal to avoid Hyperflashing for bulb 3157 (Two wires will need to be spliced):
Bulb I most likely went with for the middle running light:
Bulb for corner most bulb (At night these are actually pretty powerful for a 5 LED bulb):
I'll make another post with the photos of how they look like. Hope this helps and if you need help, just ask away.
