I finally received my 13 watt red LED 3157 blubls for the rears. I already have the dual 3157 park/turn installed in the front with the 3ohm 50 watt resistor. Only the turn signal led would light up but dim and when turning on the blinker I got the hyperflash. I put the stock bulbs in and both lights wont work except for the turn signal when on. I just looked and the 10 amp fuse for the RT side parking lights is blown. any ideas?

I just took them out because of the issues above. They are almost twice as bright they seem, still light out right now. If I can find out what I exactly need I will put them in again. And the tail light is odd back there, only one harness connecting to the back of the assembly, so finding the turn wires will be fun unless someone knows the specific color of it? |

Im getting really fed up with this LED crap.. The parking working fine but getting the hyperflash still. I specifically ordered the 3ohm 50 watt because VLEDS.com stated only one resistor per side is needed with both front and rear LED's. I would of ordered whatever the hell I needed last week if I had known this wont work. What the **** do I need to get these working right???? The auto store near me sells resistors but they are either 3 or ohm 25 watts. Just want these working NOW!!!! VLEDS can eat a dick for giving crap info.

Just remembered, I have a bunch of 6.8 ohm 10 watt sand resistors right here, will those work since the 3157 LED is 13 watts, and alot higher than most?

i dont know, the 6 ohm they sell are 50W.

Yea, but the highest watt LED they sell is 7 watts. Funny how VLEDS state they are the brightest leds in the world, when I just got 13 watt ones, has 13 one watt leds on it. And were only 18 bucks for two from warden_jp on ebay, great seller who I always use from now on. I ordered 2x50 watt 7 ohm, 2x 25 watt 4 ohm, and one 50 watt 1.2 ohm resistors off ebay so im just going to try them all out and see how it goes. Would be nice if there was an electrician or someone who actually understands resistors and ohms to help out. cuz I have no idea what the hell im doing.

Frankie has posted a whole thread on these lights.>I helped him to get the mworking.. We both needed 6 ohm resistors as stated in the thread..Next time do a search first and you would have found out what exactly was needed

Thats odd, because when I looked at his how-to thread he listed he had the 3 ohm resistors. Here is what he stated cut and pasted directly from his thread, first post. Parts Used: VLEDs Dual Color Changing Turn Signal LEDs VLEDS 3ohm Resistor and Splicing Clips 2 Sheet Metal Screws And I knew I was buying these rear LEDs, and VLEDS.com states only one 3 ohm 50 watt resistor is needed per side with both front and rear leds installed. So I did do plenty of research, but I am getting all different answers in whats needed. Last edited by TimmyB; 06-09-2009 at 04:10 PM. |

Hasnt anyone done leds front and rear successfully? I think I found the correct wiring diagram for the rear 8 way tail light harness for the ground and turn wires, says WT/DG for left turn and WT/OR for right turn with black for ground obviously. Just got the bunch of diff resistors I ordered from ebay, the guy sells em dirt cheap and has a bunch left if anyones looking for some. Half look used but should be working.

Thanks for clarifying, thats what I have is the 3 ohm resistors. I didnt think saleen was correct in his statement. Going to try 7 ohm resistors in the rear, then 3 ohm if those dont work.

My bad...I did use the 3 ohms...I did them so long ago I forgot....Thinking back, I had ordered the 6 ohms first and they didnt work, so them got the 3 ohms and they worked perfectly...Sorry for the confusion |

See, thats why im so stumped with whats happening. I have reinstalled them making sure the 3 ohm resistors have perfect connections and still have the white parking lights stay off for a minute after using the blinker. I have the stock bulbs put back in the rear, and they are not affected at all and work perfect even when the front parking led is out. I think vleds is blocking my emails now. lol. What about hooking the resistors up to the side marker turn light, or is that on a different cuircut as the front turn lights? |

I used 7 ohm 50 watt resistors (got em cheap on ebay) and it fixed the blinker problem, but I kept blowing the brake light fuse so I gave up and went back to stock bulbs. I only did one side, and leds lite up great, blinker worked perfect, until I stepped on the brake and my electric brake system warning light came on my dash and my 3rd brake light didnt work and the leds stayed the same brightness. The 15 amp blue fuse in the engine comparment blew. I remember seeing on another site someone with an srt8 having issues and ended up going with the swack or whatever its called type of led from vleds. My front dual turn signal led from vleds still isnt working right so im not about to spend 50 bucks just to have led bulbs back there. I can live with stock i guess, but kinda pissed cuz these 13watt red leds I have are pretty cool and wished they worked right.
Any ideas why the brake fuse would be blowing, doesnt that mean too much current is being drawn off the cuircut? And I only tried one side, but I dont think having one side stock still would be the cause of it. Last edited by TimmyB; 06-14-2009 at 06:26 AM. |
