Version #2
Supplies needed-
2008-10 OEM HID headlights-
9006 Xenondepot wiring/relay harness- www.kbcarstuff.com
flame retardent tubing-3/8"
heat shrink tubing-various sizes
9006 male connector with pigtail
electrical tape
sodering iron and thin gauge soder
cutting/stripping tool
scissors
lighter or heat gun-to heat up shrink tubing
First...locate the power and ground for the HID ballast(shown with arrow) The ballast is the silver box just below the arrow.
the power for the ballast is the brown wire and the black is the ground.
Here....Im showing how I cut the power wire as close to connector as possible. The more wire...the better.
the same with the black ground...but it will be much shorter due to another ground wire coming in and joining. I cut just before the joint.
Next...I trimmed some black ground wire from the 9005 plug pigtail so that the power and ground have the same length of wire..
I then slipped enough shrink wrap tubing on the wire to cover the sioder and joint.
I then added a couple drop of soder and then shrink wrapped and taped for extra security and protection from water.
and shrink wrapped again
Now strip back your male 9006 plug and pig tail and the power and ground for the ballast. The red is the power on the 9006 male pig tail and black is the ground.
Its very important here to slip the smaller shrink and med. size shrink on the wires before connectiong to the male 9006 pigtail.
Now...as above....soder, shrink wrap, tape the ends of each shrink wrap and shrink wrap again. Be sure to tape the ends of all shrink wrap for 2x the protection.
shown here...
Now...I tape the two wires together...just for neatness and extra protection
Now...slip the wires into the 3/8" flame retardent tubing and trim to length
Tape up the conduit....now it looks OEM and professional
Now just plug it into your 9006 Xenondepot wire/relay harness. Anytime you need to remove the lamp....just unplug and remove!
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
